God Disciplines His Children

The Way of the Cross

“Whoever wants to be my Disciple,
Must Deny Themselves,

“Take up Their Cross and Follow Me.”

“For Whoever wants to Save

Their Life will Lose it,”

Whoever Loses Their Life For

Me and for the Gospel will Save it.

What good is it for someone to gain the
whole world, yet forfeit their soul?

Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous
and sinful generation, the son of man will be ashamed of them
when he comes in the Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

Truly I tell you, some who are standing here Will Not Taste Death
before they see that the Kingdom of God has come with Power.”

Cf. Matthew 16:24-28, Mark 8:34-38, Mark 9:1, Luke 9:23-27
– Jesus Christ

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you,
“Everyone who Sins is a Slave to Sin.

A Slave has no Permanent Place in the Family, but a Son belongs to it Forever,

So if the Son sets you free,

you be free indeed.”

Cf. John 8:23-35

The Holy Spirit does not want to burden you!

It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.
Cf. Acts 15:28-29

Righteousness by Faith

Christ is the culmination of the law

so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law:
“The person who does these things will live by them.”

But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart,
‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim:

If you declare with your mouth,
“Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart
that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?

As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those
who bring good news!”

Cf. Romans 10:4-15

“We know that a person is not justified by the works of the law,
but by faith in Jesus Christ, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

“But, doesn’t that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not!
If I rebuild what I destroyed, then I really would be a lawbreaker.

“For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness
could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

Cf. Galatians 2:15-21

Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith?
Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

Cf. Romans 3:31

The only thing that counts is faith
expressing itself through love.

Cf. Galatians 5:6

“Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace,
which can build you up and give you an inheritance
among all those who are sanctified.

Cf. Acts 20:32

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

“If you love me, keep my commands.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another
advocate to help you and be with you forever,

The Spirit of truth.

The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.
But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.

On that day you will realize that I am in my Father,
and you are in me, and I am in you.

Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

“Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them,
and we will come to them and make our home with them.

Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching.
These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
Cf. John 14:15-24

The Commands

My command is this:
Love each other as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this:
to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command.

Cf. John 15:12-14

“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”
the things God has prepared for those who love him.

Cf. 1 Corinthians 2:9

Love Fulfills the Law

Let No Debt Remain Outstanding,
Except the continuing Debt to Love One Another,
for whoever Loves Others has Fulfilled the Law.

The Commandments,

“You Shall not Commit Adultery,”

“You Shall Not Murder,”

“You Shall Not Steal,”

“You Shall Not Covet,”

and Whatever other Command there may be,
are Summed up in This One Command:

“Love your Neighbor

As Yourself.”

Love does no harm to a neighbor.
Therefore Love is the Fulfillment of the Law.

The Acts of the Flesh are Obvious:

Sexual Immorality, Impurity and Debauchery;

Idolatry and Witchcraft; Hatred, Discord, Jealousy, Fits of Rage, Selfish Ambition, Dissensions, Factions and Envy; Drunkenness, Orgies, and the Like.

I warn you, as I did before,

Those who live like this,

will not Inherit The

“Kingdom of God.”

The Fruit of the Spirit is;

“Against such Things

There is No Law.”

Those who belong to,

“Christ Jesus”

Have Crucified The Flesh with its Passions and Desires.

Since we live by the Spirit,
let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Let us not become Conceited,
Provoking and Envying Each Other.

Cf. Galatians 5:13-26

Warning Against Unbelief

The Holy Spirit says:

“Do Not Harden Your Hearts

As they Did in the Rebellion,

during the time of testing in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested and tried me,
though for forty years they saw what I did.
That is why I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.’

So I declared on Oath in my Anger,

‘They Shall Never Enter My Rest.’ ”

See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful,
unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.

Hebrews 3:7-12

Since the promise of

Entering His Rest still stands,

“Enter His Rest”

Be Careful that None of You be Found to Have

Fallen Short.

For we also have had the good news
proclaimed to us, just as they did;
But the message they heard was of
No Value to them Because,
They Did Not Share
The Faith Of Those Who

“Today, If You Hear His Voice,

Do Not Harden Your Hearts.”

For The Word of God is Alive and Active.
Sharper than any Double-Edged Sword,
Nothing in all Creation is Hidden from God’s Sight.
Everything is Uncovered and Laid Bare
Before the Eyes of Him to Whom
We Must Give Account.

Cf. Hebrews 4:1-13

Struggling with Sin

In your Struggle against Sin,

You have not yet Resisted to the Point of

Shedding your Blood.

My son, do not make light of the Lord’s Discipline,
and Do Not Lose Heart when he Rebukes you,
because the Lord Disciplines The One He Loves,
And he Chastens Everyone He Accepts as his Son.

Endure hardship as discipline;

God is Treating you as His Children.

God Disciplines Us For Our Good,
In Order That We May Share In His Holiness.

No Discipline seems Pleasant at the Time,
but Painful. Later on, however, it Produces

“Harvest of Righteousness”

and Peace for those who have been Trained by it.

Warning and Encouragement

Make Every Effort to Live in Peace with Everyone and to be Holy.
See to it that no one is Sexually Immoral falling short of the grace of God.
Without Holiness, No One will see the Lord.

Cf. Hebrews 12:4-14

Do Not Be Deceived

God Cannot be Mocked.

A Man Reaps what he Sows.
Whoever Sows to Please their Flesh,
From the Flesh will Reap

Whoever Sows to Please the Spirit,

From the Spirit will Reap,

“Eternal Life.”

Let us not become Tired of doing Good, We will Reap a

If We Do Not give up.
Therefore, as we have Opportunity,

Let Us Do Good To All People,

Especially to those who Belong to the Family of Believers.
Cf. Galatians 6:7-10

The Last Day’s

“Do Not Forget this one thing, Dear Friends:

With the Lord a Day is like a Thousand Years,

and a Thousand Years are like a Day.”

The Lord is Not Slow

in Keeping his Promise,

Instead He is Patient with You,

Not wanting Anyone to Perish,

But Everyone to come to Repentance.

But the day of the Lord will come like a Thief. The Heavens will Disappear with a Roar; the Elements will be Destroyed by Fire, and The Earth and Everything done in it will be laid bare.
Since Everything will be Destroyed in this way, What Kind of People ought you to be? You ought to live Holy and Godly lives as you look forward to the Day of God and Speed its coming.

Cf. 2 Peter 3:8-12

“He Committed No Sin,
No Deceit was Found in his Mouth.”

When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

“He Himself Bore Our Sins”

In His Body On The Cross,

So that we might Die to Sins and
Live for Righteousness;

“By His Wounds you have been Healed.”

“You were like Sheep going Astray,”

but now you have returned to the,

and Overseer of your souls.”

Cf. 1 Peter 2:22-25

Do you Not Know that Your Bodies

are Temples of the Holy Spirit,

Whom You have Received from God?
You are not your own;
You were Bought at a Price.
Therefore Honor God with your Bodies.

Cf. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

The Grace of God

For the Grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions,

To live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
Cf. Titus 2:11-14

“Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up
and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”
Acts 20:32 – Apostle Paul

The Great Race

Do you not know, That in a

All the Runners Run,
But Only One gets the Prize?

Run in such a way as to get the Prize!

Cf. 1 Corinthians 9:24
